History

The Medal for Firefighting was awarded to Romanian firefighters, both military and civilian, in recognition of distinguished service, but it was permanently discontinued following the collapse of the Socialist Republic in 1989.

There are two versions of the Bronze Medal. The first features the initials of the Romanian People's Republic, and the second features the initials of the Romanian Socialist Republic. Both versions have a reverse inscription that translates to "For Firefighting."
