History

The Order of Labour was conferred upon Romanian civilians in recognition of excellent achievements in labour, which could include the increase of production quotas or the introduction of new and productive methods or technologies. It was permanently suppressed following the collapse of the Socialist Republic in 1989.

Recipients of the III Class Breast Star were granted a monetary award of 1000 lei (250 USD) and two additional days of paid leave.

There are two models of the III Class Breast Star. The first, awarded during the Romanian People’s Republic from 1948-1965, features the obverse inscription “RPR,” and the second, awarded during the Romanian Socialist Republic, features the obverse inscription “RSR.”

There may be additional versions of the III Class Breast Star that differ in composition.
