History

This Order was conferred upon Romanian mothers with large families. The I Class was conferred upon mothers with 9 children, the II Class was conferred upon mothers with 8 children, and the III Class was conferred upon mothers with 7 children. It was permanently suppressed after the collapse of the Socialist Republic in 1989.

Recipients of the II Class Badge were granted a monetary award of 1000 lei (250 USD) and three additional days of paid leave.

There are two versions of the Order. The first version, awarded from 1951-1965, has “RPR” in the obverse inscription, and the second version, awarded from 1965-1989, has “RSR” in the obverse inscription.

There may be additional versions that vary in composition.

This Order was created alongside the Motherhood Medal. See also the Motherhood Medal, in the Orders of the Romanian People's Republic & Romanian Socialist Republic (1947-1989).
