History

This Order was conferred upon Romanian medical professionals for meritorious service in the field. It was permanently suppressed after the collapse of the Socialist Republic in 1989.

The medallion features the bowl of Hygieia, a common symbol for pharmacy that originates from depictions of the Hygieia, the Greek goddess of health and sanitation.

Recipients of the II Class Breast Star were granted a monetary award of 1200 lei (300 USD) and three additional days of paid leave.

This Order was created alongside the Medal of Medical Merit. See also Medal of Medical Merit, in the Medals & Decorations of Romanian People's Republic & Romanian Socialist Republic (1947-1989).
