History

The Order of Scientific Merit was conferred upon Romanian citizens in recognition of merit, including scientific discoveries and advancements in method and research, in a variety of scientific fields. It was permanently suppressed following the collapse of the Socialist Republic in 1989.

II Class award recipients were granted 1200 lei (300 USD) and 3 additional days of paid leave.
