History

This Order was conferred upon Romanian citizens for achievements in sport. Recipients included athletes, coaches, and sports organizations. The Order was permanently suppressed after the collapse of the Socialist Republic in 1989.

Recipients of the I Class Breast Star were granted a monetary award of 1600 lei (400 USD) and four additional days of paid leave.

The obverse inscription translates to “Sport Merit.”

There may be additional version that vary in composition.
