History

The original name of the medal is "Pämetná medaila "Za obranu Slovenska 1939".

There are two types of this medal. Type I was awarded for participation in the invasion of Poland. Type II was awarded for participating in the defense of Slovakia from the Hungarian Invasion in March 1939.

Three bars may decorate the ribbon of this medal reading, "JAVORINA", "III 1939/IX 1939", AND "IX 1939".
