This Order is awarded to officers for "distinguished leadership on the battlefield".

The Order was conferred upon Slovakian military personnel in recognition of a minimum of 4 years of service by the 5th anniversary of the establishment of the Slovak Republic on March 14, 1944.

3,769 awards of all classes were manufactured, but less then 600 of them were awarded.

The reverse inscription translates to "merit".
