This Order was established in 2003 by the Verkhovna Rada and awarded the same year on August 22.

It is awarded to civilians and military personnel for “the impeccable contribution to the development of Ukraine and its people.”

The Military Division of this award has crossed swords on the ribbon, while the Civil Division ribbon is plain.

Danylo was the first King of Rus during the 13th century. During his rule he fought off the Mongol threat, held off Poland and Hungary, expanded his realm, and boosted the economic standard in his lands.

The obverse inscription translates to “Daniel Galician”.
