History

This order was established in 2014 by the Verkhovna Rada and it was first awarded on November 27th of the same year.

It is awarded for defending democracy, human rights and freedom during the Euromaidan protests in Ukraine. It has been awarded 3 times posthumously, and all 3 recipients were foreign citizens.

The title refers to the participants that were killed during the Euromaidan protests.

The design of the Order was created by Taras Wozniak and Konstantina Kovalyshyn.
