History

This Order was conferred upon civilians and military personnel serving under Marshall Tito during WWII. It was awarded in recognition of outstanding service.

From 1955 onward, this Order was awarded for economic, cultural, social and military contributions to the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.

It is also known as the Order of Merit to the Nation.
