History

The Medal was conferred upon individuals in recognition of exceptional and long service to the Gioventù Italiana del Littorio (GIL), which translates to the Italian Youth of the Lictor.

There are three main versions of this Medal. The medals issued first feature the right facing portrait of Victor Emmanuel III on the obverse medallion, and have the obverse inscription “VITT.EM.III. RE.D’ITALIA.” The medals issued second feature the right facing portrait of Victor Emmanuel III on the obverse medallion, have the obverse inscription “VITT.EM.III.RE.D’ITALITA.D’ALBANIA.IMP.D’ETHIOPIA,” and are stamped “38 MI.” The medals issued third feature the left facing portrait of Victor Emmanuel III on the obverse medallion, and have the obverse inscription “VITT EMANVELE III RE D’ITALIA D’ALBANIA E IMP. D’ETIOPIA,” and are stamped “E. CRIPPA S.J.”

The Silver Medal was awarded for a minimum of five years of service.
