This Medal was awarded to the winners of various sports competitions, and its purpose was to invigorate the national and support the emulation of health and fitness in Italy.

There are two main versions of this Medal.

The medals issued first feature Benito Mussolini on the obverse medallion wearing a helmet. These medal may be stamped with engraver and manufacturer marks, such as "ORLANDINI VENTRELLA ROMA," and "38 MI," or have no marks at all. The medals issued second feature Benito Mussolini on the obverse medallion without a helmet. These medals are not stamped with any marks at all.

The reverse of both versions of the Medal may be engraved with the recipient details.
