History

This Medal was conferred upon personnel within Italian Fire Brigades, and other fire-related services, in recognition of distinguished service.

There are two main versions of this Medal. The medals minted during the Kingdom of Italy, and those minted by the Fascist government. The medals issued first, during the Kingdom of Italy, do not feature fasces on the reverse medallion and have no inscription on the obverse medallion. The medals issued second, by the Fascist government, feature fasces on the reverse medallion and the “M” initial on the obverse medallion for Mussolini. These medals are stamped "FML" for the manufacturer Fratelli Lorioli in Milan.
