Physical Description

A circular medal constructed of bronze, the obverse bears the bust of Alfonso XII encompassed by the inscription ALFONSO XII REY DE ESPANA VUELTO A LA PATRIA, the reverse bears the image of the frigate "Navas de Tolosa" with the inscription NAVAS DE TOLOSA MARSELLA 7 DE ENERO VALENCIA 11 DE ENERO, on a half blue and half white ribbon.

History

The Medal for Alfonso XII Trip to Spain was created by Royal Decree on May 8, 1875. The medal was conferred upon individuals who accompanied Alfonso XII in the frigate "Navas de Tolosa" from Marseilles to Valencia.
