Physical Description


A shield shaped medal constructed of silvered bronze, the obverse bears the image of a person on the right with a flower on the left, with the inscription REUS below, the bottom bears a ribbon with the inscription MILICIA NACIONAL 2 MARZO 1838, the reverse bears the coat of arms for Reus with the inscription MORELL VILALLONGA, on a red and yellow striped ribbon.

History


The Medal for Reus was founded to commemorate the visit of Alfonso XII, and it was awarded to the survivors of the battles at Morell and Villalonga in 1839.
