Physical Description

A circular bronze medal, the obverse bears the coat of arms of Teruel encompassed by a border with the inscription A LOS DEFENSORES DE TERUEL LA PATRIA AGRADECIDA 3 DE JULIO DE 1874, the reverse bears the inscription A LA MUY NOBLE, FIDELISIMA, VENCEDORA Y HEROICA CIUDAD DE TERUEL encompassed by an open ended wreath of palm and oak, with a loop for suspension, on a red and yellow striped ribbon.

History

The Medal of Teruel was established by a Decree on July 4, 1874 and was conferred upon individuals that participated in the defense of Teruel against Carlist forces.
