A circular medal, the obverse bears the image of a frigate sailing on the world, encompassed by a border inscribed with VIAJE DE CIRCUNNAVEGACION DEL BUQUE ESCUELA DE GUARDIAS MARINAS, the reverse bears the image of an anchor with a ribbon wrapped around it and the inscription NAUTILUS across the front, encompassed by a border inscribed with FERROL 30 DE NOVIEMBRE DE 1892 SAN SEBASTIAN 16 DE JULIO DE 1894, on a deep blue ribbon.
