History


The Cross for Valencia was founded in Spain by the General Courts on May 23, 1823. It was awarded to the villagers of Valencia for their outstanding actions in the defense of the village against Royalist Forces in 1823.

The Cross features an obverse inscription split on the arms of the Cross that translates to "Isabel II and the Courts to the Brave Men, We Seal our Oath with our Blood," and a reverse inscription that translates to "L L of Valencia, Year 1823."
