History


The Cross for Peñacerrada was authorized in Spain by the regency of Maria Christina on July 20, 1838. It was conferred upon the troops that participated in the assault of the Peñacerrada Fortress against Carlists forces on June 20, 1838.

The Cross features an obverse inscription that translates to "I Took it by Assault."
