The Cross for the Mayors of the District of Madrid was authorized by the regency in 1842 in recognition of the members of the Civil Militia of Madrid for their actions during the 1840-1841 term.

The Cross features an obverse inscription that translates to "Zeal and Effort," and a reverse inscription that translates to "To the Mayors of the District of Madrid."
