The Cross for Zaragoza was authorized in Spain by the regency of Maria Christina, in recognition of citizens, National Militia, and military personnel who defended the city of Zaragoza against Carlist attack on March 5, 1838.

The Cross features an obverse inscription that translates to "He Fought for Freedom March 5, 1838," and a reverse inscription that translates to "Isabella II to the Always Heroic Zaragoza."
