History


The Medal for the Battle of Santo Domingo was established by King Ferdinand VII on June 15, 1817. It was conferred upon the royal military personnel who participated of the reconquest of the city of Santo Domingo in 1817.

The Medal was authorised in two categories; the Gold Medal was awarded to General, Chiefs and Officers while the Medal was awarded to troops.

This Medal features an obverse inscription that translates to "Reconquest of Santo Domingo."
