History


The Cross for the First Division of Central Army was founded in Spain by Royal Decree on January 26, 1817. It was awarded to members of the First Division of the Central Army who defended the province of Extremadura against to French forces in 1810.

The Cross features an obverse inscription that translates to "He Saved the Sinking Ship," and a reverse inscription that could be translated to "First Division of Central Army, We Must Search the Government."
