History


The Cross of the 1st Army Campaigns of 1813 and 1814 was authorized in Spain by King Ferdinand VII on January 26, 1817. It was awarded in recognition of the members of the 1st Army who fought against the French invading troops at the Peninsular War between 1813 and 1814.

The Gold Cross was conferred upon Officers, while the Silver Cross was conferred upon enlisted men.

The Cross features an obverse inscription that translates to "To the Victorious Army First Army," and a reverse inscription that translates to "For the Campaign of 1813 and 1814."
