History


The Cross for the Second Army was instituted by King Ferdinand VII on March 31, 1815. It was conferred upon the military personnel belonged to the Second Army, in recognition of distinguished services and bravery during the War of Independence.

The Gold Cross was awarded to Generals and Officers, while the Silver Cross was awarded to the troops.

The Cross features an obverse inscription that translates to "Recompense of Military Virtue," and a reverse inscription that translates to "Second Army."
