History


The Medal for the Defenders of Zaragoza was instituted by the Central Junta of Spain on March 9, 1809. It was awarded to military personnel, volunteers, and citizens in recognition of eminent services rendered to Spain at the defense of Zaragoza from the French sieges during 1808 and 1809.
