History


The Cross for the Provincial Juntas was founded in Spain by King Ferdinand VII on November 2, 1818. It was awarded to the members of various Provincial Juntas in recognition of their services to the Spanish kingdom during the Peninsular War (1808-1814).

The Cross features an obverse inscription that translates to "To Zeal and Constancy of the Provincial Junta." The reverse bears the arms of the province, varying with each Junta.
