A circular medal constructed of gold, the obverse bears the bust of a woman encompassed by the inscription S.M. LA REINA D. CHRISTINA, the reverse bears the inscription SOCIEDAD ESPANOLA DE SALVAMENTO DE NAUFRAGOS, the circular medal lays in the center of an anchor topped with a royal crown, with pin attachment.

The medal was founded to awarded the rescue of shipwrecked individuals on the coast of the Peninsula, on adjacent islands, and oversea provinces.
