History

The Civil Order of Postal Merit (Orden Civil del Mérito Postal) was established by General Francisco Franco on May 19, 1960, in recognition of those who have provided distinguished and meritorious service relating to the field of the postal service.

It is currently awarded to National and foreign individuals, and organizations. The grades are Grand Cross, Officer Cross, Gold Cross, and Silver Cross.

This Order is the highest Spanish distinction for postal services.

The current badge was designed in 2004, and differs from earlier designs by the features on the central medallion.

The Grand Cross consists of the Grand Cross Breast Star and the sash badge.
