History
The Type II Medals (1867-1890) were awarded to officers and one to other ranks. The obverse medallion of the awards for Officers in Type II-Type IV have a small crown on each head of the double headed eagle, and a single large crown above the small crowns.
The I Class for officers was awarded for 25 years and presents a silver double headed eagle.
The II Class for officers was awarded for 50 years and presents a gold-plated double headed eagle.
The I Class was awarded for 12 years, denoted by an XII in the central round medallion.
The II Class was awarded for 18 years (XVIII in medallion with wreath around the exterior). From 1869 on, the II Class was awarded for 24 years (XXIV in medallion with wreath around the exterior).
The decoration was worn on a yellow and black striped ribbon.
