History


The African War Medal (1940-1945) was awarded to Officers and soldiers of the Force Publique in recognition of a minimum of one year of service in the Second World War between May 10, 1940 and May 7, 1945. It could also be awarded posthumously.

The following clasps were issued to denote at least 6 months of service in a specific campaign:
- "NIGERIE" (Nigeria)
- "MOYEN-ORIENT" (Middle East)
- "MADAGASCAR"
- "BIRMANIE" (Burma)
