The Commemorative Medal for the 100th Anniversary of the Belgian Telegraph Service was established by Royal Decree on March 19, 1946, in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the first Belgian telegraph line. It was awarded to all employees of the Belgian Telephone and Telegraph Administration in recognition of 25 years of service completed by September 9, 1946.

The obverse initials "RTT" stand for "Régie des Télégraphes et des Téléphones," (Telegraph and Telephone Authority).
