History


The Medal of Belgian Gratitude was awarded to Belgian civilians in recognition of acts of gallantry or humanitarianism performed during the Second World War. When it was awarded to members of the Red Cross, the medal had an enamelled red cross in the surmounting laurel wreath.

The reverse inscription, in Latin, translates to "A Grateful Country."
