Established by King Christian X, this medal was awarded to recognize members of the Danish Armed Forces who have contributed 25 years of good service to the Army. This individual must possess the attributes of being diligent, loyal and proficient in service, as well as, render good conduct.

After 40 years of service, a gold oak-leaf clasp is added to the ribbon.

Both men and women were eligible to receive the Army Long Service Medal.

There is a second version of this medal that does not consist of the maker mark stamp on the reverse reading "HS".
