History

Established by King Frederick VII, this medal was never awarded, but was established to recognize individuals who have demonstrated acts of valor while in combat.

In 1849 the conferral of the medal was postponed, due to the political situation, until the end of the war in 1851. This medal was later discontinued on January 28, 1851.

The Silver Medal was manufactured at a later date, for the Royal Coin Cabinet, also not conferred upon any individual.
