History

Established by King Frederik VIII, this medal was originally conferred upon individuals who were professional firemen in local fire brigades, excluding Copenhagen, and rendered services for 25 years. From September 10, 1927, individuals who were members of volunteer fire brigades, especially in Southern Jutland, were eligible to receive this award.

This medal has not been awarded since it was replaced by the Fire Brigade Long Service Medal on December 5, 1973.
