This medal is awarded to recognize individuals who are members of the Home Guard and have rendered volunteer service for an extended period of time.

The grade associated with 60 years of service was not established until 2009.

Individuals who have served for 60 years may receive two gold oak leaf clasps on the ribbon of the medal.
