Established by Queen Margrethe II, this medal was awarded to recognize military personnel, including army, navy, and police who assisted in the transportation of King Frederik IX's coffin and stood guard at the funeral as well as Officers and members of the Royal Life Guards, who were on duty at the King's hour of death and few others who rendered notable merit to the King.
