Established by King Frederik VII, this medal was awarded to recognize four Ladies of Slesvig who had rendered outstanding personal service to the well-being of the injured Danish soldiers during the war of 1848-1850, as well as, the King's wife Louise Christine Rasmussen, also known as Countess Danner, for her support throughout the war.

All recipients came from Flensborg.
