History

Replacing, the Medal for those Killed or Wounded in Service, this medal is awarded to recognize civil and military Armed Forces personnel who have died as a repercussion of accidents, attacks, war or terrorist attacks while in combat, as well as, nationals and foreigners who have benefited the Danish Defence Force.

Foreigners are eligible to receive this award.

The reverse of the medal has an inscription that consists of the year that the individual is being recognized for.
