History

This medal is awarded to recognize any individual who has rendered commendable service to Greenland.

When services rendered are not completely courageous, the medal may be awarded without a ring so the recipient cannot not wear the award, indicating he does not have permission.

Approved by Queen Margrethe II, this medal may be worn alone, or with other Danish Orders, and Medals and Decorations.

Each year a maximum of one gold medal, and five silver medals may be awarded.
