History

Established by Queen Margrethe II, this medal is awarded to recognize commendable service rendered by Danish civilians and foreigners to the Danish Defense Forces, such as, being seriously injured, becoming disabled or killed, and courageous behavior, but are not eligible to receive other medals.

The reverse of this medal consists of an inscription that states the year, and place/event that the recipient is being recognized for.
