This Medal was worn by Officers of the Court. It is uncertain when it was instituted.

There are two different versions of the Medal. They differ by whether the inscription "MAURISSET" is on the obverse or reverse.

The obverse inscription translates to "French Republic," and the reverse inscription translates to "Operation of Law, Court of First Instance."
