The exact details surrounding the creation of this Medal are unknown. It was awarded to citizens for participation in the events of on the 22, 23, 24 of February, 1848, before the abdication of King Louis Philippe. It is unknown if this Medal was actually awarded by the Ministry of the Interior.

The obverse inscription translates to "French Republic," and the reverse inscription translates to "Ministry of the Interior, Given to."
