The Commemorative French Medal for Operations in the Middle East was awarded to military personnel of the French Army, Navy, and Air Army who participated in operations in the Middle East between September 1, 1956 and December 22, 1956. It was also awarded to civilians involved with the Merchant Marine and commercial aviation who contributed to the operations during the same period.
The Medal is worn with a nickel silver gilt "MOYEN ORIENT" (Middle East) ribbon clasp.
The obverse inscription translates to “French Republic,” and the reverse inscription translates to “Commemorative Medal for Operations in the Middle East 1956.”
