The Marne Medal was created on August 21, 1937 by the Association of Marne Soldiers (Association des Soldats de la Marne). It is not an official medal of the French government, but is widely recognized and collected.

It was awarded to the veterans of the two battles of the Marne (1914, 1918). The Medal was awarded to families of veterans until 2009.

The obverse inscription translates to “Marne,” and the reverse inscription translates to “Soldier of Marne.”
