History


The Medal for the Military Protection of the Territory was created on July 13, 2015. It is awarded by the Minister of Defence to military personnel for participation in protective operations within France. The Medal may also be awarded posthumously.

The Medal is worn with a bronze ribbon clasp denoting the operation that is being rewarded. At present, the clasps include the “SENTINELLE” clasp and the “HARPIE” clasp.

The obverse inscription translates to “French Republic,” and the reverse inscription translates to “Medal for the Military Protection of the Territory.”
