History

The Medal of Honour for Health and Social Affairs was created on February 2, 2012. It is awarded to professionals and volunteers for service in the domains of health and social services. The Medal may be awarded to French nationals or foreigners alike.

The Bronze Medal is awarded for 10 years of service, and the Silver Medal and Gold Medal may be awarded to recipients of the previous grade after and additional five years of service. The Medal may also be awarded in absence of service requirements for an act of courage and devotion, injury or death in the line of duty.

The Silver Medal is worn with a silvered bronze palm clasp, while the Gold Medal is worn with a bronze gilt palm clasp.

The obverse inscription translates to “French Republic,” and the reverse inscription translates to “Medal of Honour of Health and Social Services.”
