History

This Medal was awarded to railway workers in French colonies for at least 15 years of service. It was awarded in the colonies of Indochina, Togo, Cameroon, Madagascar, Western French Africa, and French Equatorial Africa. Prior to the creation of the Medal, Indochina had its own Medal for railway service.

The Medal was worn with a locomotive clasp.

The obverse inscription translates to “French Republic,” and the reverse inscription translates to “Railways, Labour, Honour, Devotion.”

It is uncertain when this Medal ceased to be awarded.
